Tanzania Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan has expressed concern over the increasing number of maternal mortality in the country. The VP has called on all concerned authorities and stakeholders to devise ways of counter checking the trend.
Samia was the guest of honour at a charity walk organised to collect funds that would be used to sponsor nurses who are pursuing midwifery courses.
The Vice President said it is sad to note that Tanzania, which had already made bigger strides at combating maternal mortality, is slipping back to its old records.
This report comes at a time when the world has already started implementing the World Sustainable Development Goals for the year 2030, but Tanzania is still recording 556 deaths of mothers at delivery time.
